The following figure illustrates an example from our back office software where the MCerberus® system was able to detect a malfunctioning HVAC Fan. In this case study, approximately one to two days the furnace would start but the heat exchanger fan would fail to start. The furnace would run for a few minutes before the thermal shut off safety system kicked in. The problem was corrected by replacing the fan’s starting capacitor.
Detecting an issue like this with a normal HVAC service call by a technician would be nearly impossible. Eventually, the starting capacitor would completely fail resulting in a non-operating furnace.
